SUP Advanced Flatwater

Looking to build confidence and skills that will allow you to paddle farther, paddle faster, and in more variable conditions? The Advanced Flatwater skills course takes a deeper look at forward stroke techniques, bracing, edging, paddling stances, a multitude of turn variations, and self/peer rescues and towing,

Perfect for those paddlers looking to work in the SUP industry or pursue Paddle Canada SUP instructor training. The Advanced Flatwater course is a sure way to help you step-up your SUP game!

This is registered as Paddle Canada Certification course. 

​Price: $120 with your own gear, $140 with gear rental.

Instructor: Alex Chandler  - maximum ratio 1:6 (larger groups can be arranged with advanced notice)

Prerequisites: 
  • Intro to SUP clinic/equivalent SUP skills or an athletic background with an attitude to learn!

What you will learn:
  • Greater emphasis of forward stroke technique, tracking, and paddling efficiency 
  • Edging and bracing skills that will build confidence in varying environments from ocean touring to surf conditons
  • Variety of effective turning maneuvers, short and long radius turns
  • Connecting the SUP dots...how all the skills come together and translate across disciplines
  • Towing and rescue skills
What to bring:​​
  • At Scotian SUP we are here to provide students with a fantastic first SUP experience...from high quality equipment to high quality instruction...all you need to do is show up!
  • If you have your own gear bring it along but you are also welcome to demo/use our gear as well! 
  • Change of clothes
  • Tow rope recommended (not required)
